About Us
The Dallas Badminton Club is a gathering of people who enjoy the sport of badminton in Dallas Fort Worth area. Our goal is to improve badminton skills and have fun along the way. All the players are very friendly, encourage competitive playing, and willing to share their experience. The club attracts people from US, Canada, India, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Russia, Africa, Indonesia, Malaysia, Denmark, Sweden and Senegal. We have enjoyed a diverse cultures from our players.
A bit of history, our club, founded in 1988 by Ho Keat Ma and Ted Edgerton, has grown & changed over the years, with numerous regular and international players/guests. We started with one court, two hours a week, and has grown to over multiple facilities. Now, you can play somewhere in Dallas area almost everyday of the week. Play ranges from competitive to recreational, with a strong legacy of winning at local tournaments. Past social activities include tournaments, casino trips, Dim Sum and potluck gatherings. There have also been several marriages and a number of badminton kids growing up with the game.
Our club hosts tournaments for local and out of state players. The most recent one being the Dallas Open in September 2007 with over 100 participants. The TEXINS Badminton Open held in December 15 and 16 have a total prize money of $2,000.
We also host our annual charity event in the form of a family-oriented tournament, held every December, soliciting toys as entry fees to benefit the Scottish Rite Children’s hospital. The 2007 Charity tournament completed in December 1, 2007.
